Scotland's World Cup 2026 fixtures, schedule, plus routes to knock-out stage and beyond! Can Steve Clarke's side make history?

Scotland fans, it's time to start dreaming, right?

A return to the World Cup, for the first time since 1998, is here.

We all know about those games in Group C against Haiti, Morocco and Brazil - but what could lie in wait thereafter?

Steve Clarke - the first boss to lead the nation to three major finals - is bidding to make more history in the USA as Scotland aim to progress to the knock-out stages of a tournament for the first time.

While that may be the target for those taking a glass-half-full approach, what about this with other plans? Yes, far bigger and more ambitious plans.

Well, here's a look at who Scotland's most likely opponents will be based on the highest-ranking possible teams progressing...

Match 1 - June 14: Haiti vs Scotland, Boston, 2am (UK time)

Match 2 - June 19: Scotland vs Morocco, Boston, 11pm (UK time)

Match 3 - June 24: Scotland vs Brazil, Miami, 11pm (UK time)

Round of 32 - June 29: Scotland vs Japan, Houston

Round of 16 - July 5: Scotland vs Senegal, New York

Quarter-final - July 11: Scotland vs England, Miami

Semi-final - July 15: Scotland vs Argentina, Atlanta

Final - July 19: Scotland vs France, New York

Round of 32 - June 30: Scotland vs Netherlands, Monterrey

Round of 16 - July 4: Scotland vs Mexico, Houston

Quarter-final - July 9: Scotland vs France, Boston

Semi-final - July 14: Scotland vs Spain, Dallas

Final - July 19: Scotland vs Argentina, New York

This could also take Scotland all the way. But because of the complicated way the third-placed qualification works, there are too many potential routes - which won't be finalised until the end of the group stages - to take into account at this point.
